Randomness with our old Camera
Random photo's from the week, getting our old camera dusted off, testing it out, taking some snapshots the other day. Today is Friday, hoping the day to be less windy than yesterday so that we can head out on a 'Field trip Friday' to surprise the kids...and run by the Library to pick up some additional books we had on hold. Then to await the coming home of hubbie into the weekend so that we can spend some time with him. His ever changing work schedule has seemed to be harder on everyone this week- patience overall was needed from everyone more so than usual but yet still everyone did well and had a wonderful week.

A Friday ritual. A single photo - no
words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special,
extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If
you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the
comments for all to find and see.

No photo's
A freak accident...dogs running, kids running...a camera getting pulled out of the charger and falling onto the hard flooring. A small crack in the corner, the camera will turn on but no pictures can be taken. A little heart broken, I'm always so careful with it, I love it so. For now, I'm camera-less until hubbie can do a little research and either order a new screen and fix it himself..or possibly the camera is going to be shipped off to be repaired. Going to attempt to pick up some batteries today and revive an old camera we have laying around, we'll see if it works.
The weekend was perfect- family perfect- a day off from work, we all four packed up on Sunday to go sun bathe and picnic at the lake then head off to a spot to fish until the sun went down. Perfect weather, much fun, laughter was had together.
This week in studies our daughter is 'diving' into competitive swimming books and anxious to start private lessons next month in an awesome huge indoor pool. She's informed us the Summer 2016 Olympics is in Rio, so she's begun looking at Olympic swimmer video's. She's working on 4H and studying electrical circuits and electricity and magnetism with us as well. Today she's settling down with a new documentary about the Titanic that came onto Netflix.
Our son spent yesterday researching about 'Sea' Monkey's and then purchased a kit to hatch them. He's starting to research about owls, breeds, habitats and interested in dissecting an owl pellet. He's waiting anxiously for his snap circuits to arrive at the end of the week. We finished up his robotic engineering books he checked out from last week and he is very interested in NASA at the moment as well after learning about the robots that help in space.
A few errands, lots of time to play, plenty of interests to research, study and learn and every afternoon and evening with hubbie, together as a family.....

Peaceful, free flying together.
Already Friday....Family, River Play, Books & Meditation
This week brought lovely unexpected change in our weekly and daily rhythm of schooling and life...we had visitors, and the best kind- family. Two days our of our week to take off from schooling and be on a mini-vacation ourselves to play, visit and be with them. Feeling incredibly joyous and blessed they were able to come spend two days with us here. Yesterday, Thursday as they headed home we eased into our normal rhythm of chores and studies. We studied for a short while then headed off to the store and spent the afternoon reading, playing and talking on the phone with friends.
Even though we took two days 'off' she brought her Japanese studies to the park and practiced...
Rock skipping.
Treat time
Back to studies, we sat together and read about Abraham Lincoln, being that his birthday just passed and talked briefly about Presidents' Day. We had some great conversations around Abraham Lincoln which will fuel further research and learning next week as we put more books on hold at the library..
more about the Civil War and the Gettysburg Address.
Momma has been studying too...with a sore back having not been able to do my 'normal' work out, I've turned to Yoga which has been an amazing journey so far, along with the yoga I've been reading about meditation. When picking out the book our son saw one in the kids section and asked for it-
I love the concepts of Yoga and Meditation, they go hand in hand with my Mindful Parenting book I'm currently reading.
Yoga has been a journey which 'working' out does not seem like a chore- its something I enjoy and look forward to each morning and evening. It is magical the way it makes my body and mind feel. Peaceful, connected, stress free, ready to take on the day, or sleep well at night.
Here's where I started with poses, then I checked out a few books at the library as well-
I highly recommend the children's book, Peaceful Piggy Meditation.
Page below reads, "Peaceful piggies know when to take a break, find a quiet spot and just breathe, breathe, breathe."
Page below reads, "By slowing down, peaceful piggies notice all the magical little things in life, like the way raindrops race each other down the window."
Blessed week spending time with out of town family, enjoying them, loving them.

Interests this Week...Ahh Mondays
Mondays are beautiful, the week starts anew. The beginning of an opportunity to learn, do, be.
We spend the morning doing animal chores, cleaning up the home a bit then sat down together, to chat and dive into studies. The afternoon brought a trip to the grocery store, picking out some craft items, and phone calls with family. Some afternoon chocolate chip cookie baking. A family dinner with hubbie and it was into bed early.
A wonderful first day to start our week off. A beautiful Monday.
Here is what our daughter, 13 is diving into this week:
Free Lessons to speak Japanese until Hubbie gets her Rosetta Stone working-
She wrote down some of the lessons and is practicing her pronunciations.
Reading up on the newly admitted breeds, judges articles and info on rabbits.
She's also been at the piano more and just starting to write her own songs.
Our son's interests this week: 8 years,
He is super excited we are ordering snap circuits. We've seen great reviews and he has been eyeing them for a while, so he's reading up on Electrical Engineering and just getting started researching.
and starting to learn about inventors.
After a weekend trip to Big-5, he wanted to revisit bow making at home...
And this time he designed and made with help from Mom, a Quiver, bag to keep the arrows in.
Lunch time brought watching a documentary on Titanaboa with Sister- he just got out of his dinosaur/prehistoric learning but he still really enjoys it so when Netflix got this one he was excited to see it-but the full episode is also viewable on you tube-
Afternoon Chocolate Chip Cookie baking for a snack...
Momma also got some afternoon reading time as the kids took turns at the piano and filled the house with sweet music as they had their treat of cookies.
A beautiful day.
