Sunday

A beautiful weekend for our family. A stay at home weekend. More games, more baking, more crafting and friends over again as well on Sunday. A little cleaning and working too. The evening brought homemade sushi and some miso soup for dinner then church/bible study at home and a few games of UNO again before baths and bedtime. Relaxing weekend was had by all of us.

Breakfast of homemade wheat biscuits and honey.
Our son and his pup snuggling in for bedtime together.

 Beautiful family moments.

Happenings Around Here

This last week was filled with dance classes for our daughter, knitting finally after too long of a break for momma, learning, building a wooden fort, playing, working, cooking, treating the chickens and friends.
Life is good. We are blessed.

A few lines from my devotionals this week...
"Find fulfillment in My Presence. This entails being satisfied with much or little, accepting either as My will for that moment. Instead of grasping and controlling, you are learning to release and receive."

"Many of your decisions are based on habitual responses and your desire to please yourself or others. This is not My way for you. Strive to please Me in everything and make my presence your deepest delight."

And my favorite devotional of this week:

The start....this coming week we'll be finishing it up...

May your weekend be filled with happiness, family time and worship.

Trick or Treat...And Last Week

Last week was a pretty normal week but even in the every day normal we try and plug in a few fun, creative, adventurous out-of the norm things to do, make or explore! We went grocery shopping but first stopped at the river and park we hadn't been to in a few years- not sure why just not one of our normal spots. Kids had fun, it was a gorgeous day. Weather was perfect- sunny with a cooler breeze. Our son went on his scooter then we played at the playground. The morning sun rise skies have been just beautiful too. I get up before the sun does so its continuously a blessing to get to view the sun rise each and every morning over the hay fields, makes it worth getting up early. We carved pumpkins, our daughter finished sewing her costume and dad helped our son decorate his sword and make a little bag for his costume as well. Work was done this week, school was completed, creating and making took place...a great week together. Then we went trick or treating with the kids cousins and Aunt too.

Fun week then fun weekend with family.

1 year ago today.....

...We were leaving Arizona and hitting the road to our new home in...IDAHO. I've been feeling a little sad looking through photo's of our short time there. But I've also been feeling incredibly blessed for the opportunity no matter how long for us to experience and adventure in such beautiful land. I can not think of a more perfect home then the one we were blessed with...wood burning stove, huge windows, 25 acres of forest to explore, small quaint super friendly town...and so much more. Each day waking up and walking out into the towering tree's made life and everything in it so easy to appreciate. Its definitely called 'Gods Country' for a reason. You can feel the Lord surrounding you.

A few photo's....

We love you Idaho...we will see you soon!

October ( + November??) Goals for Homesteading & Home making

My idea was to put in writing each month some goals I'd like to set to make, bake and so forth in homesteading and/or home making. Unfortunately we are sitting here on October 24th with no goals posted. But I do have them written down in a journal of idea's I have. I'm going to say at this point they are going to run over into November, and then I'll probably add some on as well in the next month!

I'm happy to say we made / and baked all the items on Septembers list with the exception of our garden. I just don't think it will happen this fall, but we are looking forward to what spring will bring. And perhaps getting a few potted plants to hold us through till then!

October / November
Homesteading and Home making

>>Continue Baking!
Agenda: Pumpkin/Carrot Muffins for our pumpkin-loving son!  I'm wanting to try this recipe...already got all the items and ready to bake-make this weekend; pumpkin-and-carrot-muffins

Home made Pumpkin Pie - need to look for a recipe/or ask friend for a tried-and true one! Again for our pumpkin-loving son!

>> ZERO Paper Plates & Plastic Silverware
We got lazy. I got busy. No more excuses.
No more paper.
(next step no more paper towels/napkins- we did it once a few years back, we can do it again- go paperless!)

>>Less Waste
MORE scraps to the chickens! Also start composting. But first step- just send the scraps outside! We've already gotten pretty good at this- just in the last month my son and I keep a bag in the fridge and we fill it after a meal with any scraps, every morning we dish out the treats!

>>DIY Mascara
I've seen a few recipes I'm eager to try. When first researching I cam across this recipe...but I'm still on the look out for what I am going to actually make.

>>Build a Fire Pit
Fall and Winter always entice us to build a warm cozy fire. We were so blessed the last two years with two houses during cold times with pot belly stoves and fireplaces, unfortunately not in this home. So we've decided to take the warmth outside for evening hang outs and build a fire pit!

>>Start Knitting Again / Monthly Sew Project with daughter
I haven't knitted in over a year! I just told my daughter last night I'm going to make some knitted head bands for winter and she pipped in we need to get on our 'monthly sewing' project we had chatted about. To take on making 1 item per month- something new that we've never done! I'm totally on board and plus, I love spending one on one time with her :)

>>Lastly - - Source some pallets and get some Coop / Outdoor Chicken area's built
We've been chatting and looking at idea's online for a while but just haven't done it. Now that the heat of summer is done and we can work outside easier, its time to make the chickens more comfy!

Happy October and November Friends!
Don't you just LOVE fall!?
