Lake Corpus Christi is located in Mathis, TX (population 4,867). It is a reservoir in coastal southern Texas. The lake was created by impoundment of the Nueces River by the Wesley E. Seale Dam opened in 1958. The lake and the dam that creates it are managed by the City of Corpus Christi. Lake Corpus Christi was originally known as Lake Lovenskiold. The lake is 30 miles from the coastline of Corpus Christi and under 2 hours to San Antonio.

Fish in the water include White bass, Blue catfish, Channel catfish, Redear sunfish, Largemouth bass. This area is an important stopover for Neotropical migrant birds. There are more than 200 bird species in the park.
