Victoria, TX Travels

Victoria is a small inland town, which is not SO little - 67,078 in 2020. It was supposed to just be a few day stay but turned into a lot longer - 2 weeks. Due to the flooding at the coast we came inland but only stayed one night at a little city park with RV hookups due to it being near an off shoot of the river that was to flood the next day. Then we went to a hotel for 3 days, back to the city rv park for a few days - over to Edna for 3 days to visit Edna, El Campo and Wharton then back to Victoria for another few days until our next reservation the 2nd of June. Whew!

This jaunt has been a little trying, and stressful with the extreme rain and flooding. We just were not prepared or used to this kind of weather being from CA and AZ. Now a few weeks of it, we feel more settled, know where to check on weather-river levels-and flooding areas and feel better prepared.

Victoria, TX - -

Its a little bigger than what we'd want to live in but definitely offers all amenities (Walmart, Home Depot / other big box stores plus a good size indoor mall) while still  having plenty of nature, parks and open spaces. There's a newer part of town towards the top, an older part of town towards the bottom and at the left  there's historic homes, downtown and riverside park. We stayed at the city rv park and enjoyed deer coming through, saw a few turtles, tons of birds and walked our pup on the nature trail by the water. We visited historic downtown one day and the gazebo tree area in the center reminded us of our hometown of Prescott. We've done normal life- laundry at the local laundry mat, grocery shopping, gone to the hardware store, checked out where the local college and library are at. We've had a nice  stay- but ready to move on and see other places as well. This city like Kerrville, also borders the Guadalupe River.
