Indoor Game Day & Vegan Bacon Biscuits

It was an indoor day...temps were rising and hubbie took the car out to visit friends, so we kept cool, finding activities inside today.
 Indoor Game Day!
Too hot to venture outside, which was our son's first choice of play, he instead claimed it to be indoor game day. Some play on the Play station- sports- Archery, Ping Pong, Bocce Ball...with sister and I.

Then a game of Marbles....
And some play with Grandpa's Erector Set....but then decided this was a daddy kind of project and we'd wait to build till he was home. Still, it was fun looking through the gears and pieces and the building instruction booklet.

Biscuits
Before lunch, the kids helped bake biscuits....This 'Plain' Biscuit recipe can be made any way you'd like, with any extra ingredients.  Today the kids made a batch of plain for our daughter then we experimented with a batch of bacon-cheese-garlic for daddy, which our son LOVED.
Next they want to make cinnamon sugar biscuits for breakfast.

Plain Biscuit - Variation of: RECIPE

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons white sugar

 More Family Reading...
The afternoon brought family reading time, two more chapters of our beloved Desperaux. Today Desperaux stood 'trial' before the mouse council. He admitted to sitting at the foot of the King and the Princess touching him and him loving the Princess. The council decided Desperaux was to be sent to the dungeon with the rats.
Today's discussion word: TRIAL
We talked briefly about what a trial was. The kids discussed whether his punishment was too harsh or if it fit the 'crime'. We talked about the mouse council. We talked about what Desperaux's family thought of him, how the other mice reacted towards him while on trial.

After our family reading time, our Son spent the afternoon reading several of his new Dr. Seuss books as I helped our daughter study her animal showmanship, preparing for fair in a few weeks out of town. Then all three of us took turns practicing piano.  My daughter and I looked through several new programs and websites for history and math for next year, as our son continued to practice his classical piano pieces.  Hubbie came home from dinner, we ate, we visited, then he went to bed as we spent the eve, playing with the dogs, reading and watching the 'Rugrats Go Wild' movie for some relaxing fun before bed.

Off to bed now with stories, prayers and hugs and kisses, till tomorrow when we see friends, venture to the Library and enjoy the day.
